1 gallery…20 artists…24 hours for you to casually come and go and observe art unfolding in front of you.
This is one of our favorite gallery events in the San Francisco Bay Area. Last year we attended Carpe Diem at Loakal Gallery in the Jack London area of Oakland and have it on our calendar for this year.
On Saturday March 29, Loakal Gallery will be open for 24 hours beginning 8 am for the public to saunter in to observe 20 invited artists each seize their own 4′ by 8′ panel and create a piece of art using their unique creative process. It is the perfect opportunity to meet the artists and watch them create their art during a time in your day that is convenient for you. You can spend as little or as much time as you have before work, during your lunch break or in the evening if you have to work. Last year when we dropped by some artists were beginning their pieces, others were in the middle and some had not begun.
The artists this year: Jessica Hess, Ian Ross, Hueman, Reggie Warlock, Chris Granillo, Cameron Thomas, Brett Amory, Lisa Pisa, Nite Owl, John Wentz, John Casey, Marcos LaFarga, Jet Martinez, Skinner, Cannon Dill, Lauren YS, Zoltron, Max Kauffman, Eddie Colla and Daryll Peirce.
There will be an opening reception the following Friday, April 4th from 6-10 pm for the unveiling of all the art with many of the artists in attendance.
Wet your appetite. Watch this video from last year where they invited 10 artists. Then seize the day. Click and save the date.
