Ala Ebtekar is a Bay Area native born to Iranian parents who gave him deep roots with his heritage that had a major impact on his art and the direction of his teaching. In his teen years he was influenced by hip hop and graffiti and spent a lot of time as a DJ. He always had a knack for drawing and found it to be his passion and course of study. He currently teaches at Stanford.
