The 5-story piece, titled “No Ceiling,” features a young girl with unnatural strength and resolve, and is a tribute to Bay Area women. Ja’Niyha W., a 6 year old from Oakland, was selected for the role after followers suggested local candidates on BIPs Instagram. At the time, Ja’Niyha’s mother worked at a low-income psychiatric clinic facing BIP’s mural in Oakland.
BIP singlehandedly completed the giant work over one month, using roughly 400 cans of spray paint to achieve his characteristically expressive, humanist style through subtle color mixing.
The mural was created in partnership with Westfield San Francisco Centre and Montana Colors, BIP’s paint sponsor.
