Jet Martinez (Born Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico) is based in Oakland, CA. He studied Spanish Literature at the University Of Colorado, before receiving a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. He’s a full time muralist, painter, and his work has been featured in the New York Times and other respected publications and books. He was one of the directors of the Clarion Alley Mural Project in SF’s Mission District for nearly ten years.
His paintings have been exhibited in various institutions and galleries including:
Syracuse University, Facebook HQ, MACLA (Museo de arte y cultura latino americana), San Jose, CA, Mesa Center for the Rts, Mesa AZ, SomArts, SF Arts Commission Gallery, 111 Minna Gallery, White Walls, Project-1SF and more.
In addition, his murals grace the walls of many public streets in the US and abroad. His murals have been commissioned by groups such as Facebook, Tipping Point Foundation, Red Bull, Climate Works Foundation, etc. Most recently, SF General Hospital commissioned a public piece for their new emergency department through the SF Arts Commission.
Jet’s most recent work is inspired by folk arts and artists through out the world but with a strong influence of Mexican folk arts.
Chor Boogie is an artist, a conceptual genius, a street romantic, a master of illusion and technique. Chor Boogie is an original. His works can be described as having healing effects by his unique and unmatched use of color, which brings greater meaning and understanding to his works. Every vibrant piece has a story attached to it. Chor Boogie’s colorful paintings are attracting A-list celebrities, art galleries and museums. Originally from San Diego, the artist known as Chor Boogie currently resides in San Francisco but is an internationally known artist and has traveled extensively to exhibit his work around the world.
The intentions behind his artwork are to create timeless dynamic moments of Imagination, Creativity, Originality, Meaning, Style, Self Expression, Audience, Taste, and the Visual Elements of Line, Light, Composition, Form, Space, and Color. It is derived from the colors of his soul. It is a therapeutic flow of colors, shapes, and movements combined into one. A movement of images that has adapted to space giving it the significance of belonging to its surface, coming together as one and forming images of creation. Expressing realms of colors that give a healing sense and encourages you to wake up.
Opening Night, 11/7 | Special Live Performance by BAST in Collaboration w/ Chor Boogie – Bast serves as a visual and performance artist, fusion temple dancer, writer, poet, yoga teacher, healing artist, and musician. She studied at New College of San Francisco with an emphasis on Art and Social Change and has studied fusion bellydance for over 20 years. She is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Bast is the producer and co-director of the Nouveau Devadasi Fusion Temple Dance Festival & workshop series.
Artistic inspiration comes from fertile personal experience in the non-dual path of yoga and both traditional & avant-garde forms of ritual performance. Her performances are an opulent, surreal living dream, in which the barrier between artist and audience always dissolves.
