Backlash in California against Trump, 45th president elect. Windy talk of succession from the Union.
Do you know the history of the flag?
It is based on a flag raised in Sonoma in 1846 by American settlers in revolt against Mexican rule and was designed by William Todd a cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abe Lincoln and First Lady. The bear is modeled on the last California grizzly held in captivity. The extinct grizzly is the official California animal.
The Five Pint Star originally referenced Texas the lone star state that also fought Mexico for independence and the red strip stands for courage and sacrifice.
