There is a new happening corner on San Pablo and 65th Street in Oakland. The building walls and fences were recently painted with fun colorful murals by several Oakland and visiting artists who brighten both our days on the street and the walls in our homes. Some of their studio art can be seen in galleries around Oakland and in Pallett Space the occupant of the buildings and business that made all the art happen in partnership with LeQuiVive Gallery that is in downtown Oakland.
The Pallet Space is a 2000 square foot art gallery opened earlier this year by artist owner Purdey. The space has been a work in process as he been creating a retail/consignment space with antiques and collectables, an art gallery and performance and rehearsal space . He has some awesome plans of making this a destination in the neighborhood and East Bay for both private and public events indoors and out.
The Pallett Space had their first 2nd Saturday event this past week-end where they unveiled more art on the street that they individually curated which included GATS, Bella, and Dead Eyes. Works by Purdey T Darrow and 11 members of his Pallet Collective were showcased: Icronic, Kelsey Sweet, Nick Saracenti, Rachel Giavasis aka Lady Napalm, Jessica Ruby Radcliffe, Jane Elliot, Trent Nahas, Kaia Layacan de Ocampo, Anthem, and your Mom.
Have any unused exterior paint and supplies that are still good? Bring them to Pallett Space. Street artist use all sorts of paint to accomplish their beautiful results!
They plan to host an event every 2nd Saturday.
