Pen and Ink Drawing

Wandering around the Tendernob wondering where you can grab a cup of coffee, bite to eat or share some conversation over a drink with a friend? There are many businesses that will satisfy those needs but only three that will simultaneously heighten your visual experience with art by local artist D Young V.

D Young V is a San Francisco based artist operating out of the Tenderloin whose art you can see on the street and periodically in local galleries. He has painted murals on the interior of three restaurant cafes as well in a small shop called the Loin on Eddy across the street from the Phoenix Hotel that features other artists.

Cup a Joe Coffeehaus

Cup a Joe is located at 896 Sutter St on the corner of Sutter and Leavenworth. It serves a variety of beverages ranging from coffee, tea, beer and wine and light snacks that include pastries, bagels from House of Bagels and bagel sandwiches. Whenever we wander by this cafe there are always patrons soaking up the sunlight, catching up with friends and making use of their free wifi. This cafe is very close to Spoke Gallery and Gauntlet Gallery.

Amsterdam Cafe

Amterdam is located a block away from White Walls Gallery on 937 Geary Street at Polk. The name might say cafe. But what they are really about is beers and ales. They bill themselves as the Oasis of the Loin. Some evenings they have a pop up kitchen.

Amsterdam is the premier beer spot in the Tenderloin. We offer 25 taps and over 350 bottles of fine ales and lagers. Specializing in craft beer, Amsterdam has cultivated a reputation for having the best beer selection in the area.
