FFDG is pleased to present Colorado-based artist Mike Giant in his fourth solo show with the gallery entitled “The Mile High Life” including 36 drawings of various sizes and photo prints on canvas made in collaboration with Jason Siegel. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, February 12th (6-9pm). Mike Giant and Jason Siegel will be present.
Having lived and worked in Boulder, Colorado for the past three years now, Mike Giant really has a mile-high perspective on life. The clarity and precision of his work has only been enhanced by his ability to create in his barn studio adjacent to a creek, breathing the fresh, crisp air of the Rocky Mountains, and working alongside other local artists and creators.
Evolving from the 11” x 14” drawings we’ve shown of his in this past, THE MILE HIGH LIFE includes 36 different drawings, varying in size and scale. Many of these drawings are executed on vintage letterhead, which Giant sourced while simultaneously building an arts community. He put out a public call; if you give him sheets of letterhead, he will repay you with an original drawing. To this date, these are the only individuals who have such drawings. This show will allow the rest of us to see and acquire them, no vintage object searching required.
Boulder, Colorado based Mike Giant has achieved fame as a graffiti artist, illustrator and tattooist. Black ink is Giant’s specialty and whether his medium is concrete, paper or skin, his signature style – inspired by Mexican folk art and Japanese illustration – is unmistakable. Mike Giant has worked in media covering, graffiti, design, fine art, photography and tattooing, making him one of the most celebrated and versatile artists of his generation. He has shown in galleries around the world including Known Gallery L.A., Jonathan Levine N.Y.C, Black Book Gallery Denver, and many more.
