To celebrate the official one year anniversary of the Ian Ross Gallery, we present “Spray Paint” a solo show by Ian Ross. Ross took an investigative look at one of his primary mediums, spray paint, to better understand his own “Hyper-Organic” style. “Spray paint is both creative and destructive, it’s a unique phenomenon in the history of art.” Says Ross, “It’s empowering what I consider to be the most significant period of art history. The quantity of people working with spray paint around the globe at any given time has made it a catalyst for a new type of artistic proliferation.” Ross believes that technological innovations are shifting the focus and definition of art itself, and those who use paint (to create art) in the future will likely gravitate toward mediums like aerosol which can keep up with our ever shortening attention spans.

Spray Paint is comprised of three distinct bodies of work and two site specific installations. It has been a year since Ross has shown in San Francisco and we look forward to welcoming you to the opening on April 18th, 2014. Ian Ross Gallery is located at 466 Brannan St. (at 4th) in San Francisco.
