Internationally known graffiti artist, Banksy, left his mark on San Francisco with his famous “Haight Street Rat” in April 2010. Little did he know that this act of “vandalism” would spark a chain of events that includes the rat being removed from a wall, Museums turning down a free Banksy street work, and a NY gallerist who has made it his business model to remove Banksy street works from all over the globe doing whatever it takes to get the rat in his possession.
Saving Banksy is the story of one misguided art collector’s attempt to save a Banksy from destruction and the auction block. A rare backstage look at the elusive world of Street Art and Graffiti, it asks the question “What would you do if you found a million dollar Banksy spray-painted on the side of your house?”
Directed by Colin Day with narration by Paul Polycarpou. Featuring interviews with some of the top names in Street Art and Graffiti including Ben Eine, Risk, Revok, Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman, Blek Le Rat, Anthony Lister, Doze Green, Hera, and Glen E Friedman. 2016. 80min.
