We are pleased to invite you to our last opening at 466 Brannan SF “Not For Sale” with a special new installation.

Rocha Art is thrilled to announce beginning April 2016 it will move beyond the gallery walls at 466 Brannan Street and into an exciting new phase, which will include an expansion of their 1 Brush Initiative non-profit and an extension of its exhibitions, events, and mural activations in San Francisco and beyond. The anticipation of this next phase is bittersweet, as these new opportunities and projects ahead come at a time Rocha Art also announces its gallery on Brannan Street will close at the end of March 2016.

Rocha Art has been aware since moving into the location that the building in which the gallery is housed and the surrounding area would eventually be razed for commercial and residential development. After the gallery closes, Rocha Art will remain focused upon work that supports and benefits the San Francisco arts community. For 4 years in its gallery space Rocha Art invested in the local community, building connections and professional partnerships with the city’s artists, arts professionals, and supporters of the arts. Its dynamic exhibition and events programming in the gallery prominently featured local artists and arts professionals. Rocha Art concurrently expanded its impact and influence locally and nationally in preparation for this moment when it would ultimately depart from the brick-and-mortar gallery model.

With this emphasis on the local arts still very much part of its mission, Rocha Art has an exciting set of programs planned in its first year beyond the gallery walls. Its non-profit, 1 Brush Initiative will immediately double its educational programming, and has established an important partnership with Larkin Street Youth. Wander and Wayfare, Rocha Art’s highly-acclaimed annual event, co-curated by Daniele Rocha and Hueman, will expand and travel throughout the United States, including several cities along the West Coast. This all female activation celebrates women artists of contemporary street art with a city-wide mural gallery and exhibition.

Additionally, Rocha Art will continue its programming by cultivating curatorial partnerships locally and nationally, which will include both its affiliated artists, and artists new to its program. “This chapter has been a priceless experience” says Ian Ross, co-owner of Rocha Art, “I look forward to developing the relationships we’ve built, while extending our reach on a global scale. This year we are headed to Mexico, Japan, Berlin and New Zealand, as well as two domestic road trips documenting my rake art practice for an upcoming book release.”

We would like to thank the artists and clients involved in the success of our 466 Brannan location. So many stories and memories were made, we are humbled by your support, advice, and continued patronage. We look forward to the next iteration and plan to bring you all along for the ride!
