About the residency:
In the spirit of participatory journalism, No Window Shopping is a visual response to local affairs, current events and timely topics. We collect and highlight timely and topical works from emerging artists that address larger social issues in a host of cities from around the globe. We will publish this collection later, along with interviews and essays from the artists we have worked with as well as contributions from distinguished academics. But as far as what No Window Shopping means to its curator and founder, André Smith —” it’s a reference for things we cannot afford to ignore.” The social issues change depending on where the residency goes, but the fact remains that we are all affected by these issues and their global ramifications. Our San Francisco appearance runs December 2015–February 2016.

About the curator:
After putting in work over the years at CreativeControl.tv, Team Epiphany, Interpublic Groupe’s Momentum, as well as 1stAveMachine and Dune Studios, André Smith moved on to more rewarding pursuits. Now, as curator at No Window Shopping–a traveling art residency that responds to current events and local affair from around the world–his curatorial practice includes photo essays, mixed media, conceptualism, portraits, pop art, graffiti, works on wood, canvas, silkscreens and kitschy illustrations. André’s curatorial practice is informed by those years of moving between agency creative, influencer marketing and integrated production. From those experiences, he has reached the same conclusion about the future of events, entertainment, connectivity and culture in general:
