White Walls Project Space is pleased to present, Look at what came before, and that will be the future., the latest solo show by David Marc Grant. The opening reception will be held on September 13 from 7 pm to 11 pm. The exhibition will be on view through October 4, 2014 and is free and open to the public.
Look at what came before, and that will be the future., features Grant’s signature small scale paintings rendered in his signature candy colored palette. Frequently depicting dystopian landscapes reminiscent of 80s science fiction and fantasy novels, Grant plays off this concept in his own humorous way. While commenting on environmental degradation and his own anxieties about the future, Grant addresses pressing global issues in an approachable light, fostering an inviting setting for open dialogue about these concerns.
David Marc Grant (b.1975) is an artist living and working in San Francisco, where he has had several solo shows and completed four album covers. In 2010, Grant received his MFA from SFAI. Through his work Grant opens a dialogue on geo-political issues with colorful landscapes, structures and technology drawn from ideas of various utopian and dystopian fictions, drawing influences from the constructivist/suprematist movement, Persian miniaturists, op, pop, advertising, comics, science fiction films, and contemporary low brow.
