SpaceCraft Collective, San Francisco, presents Before the Wrecking Ball: The End of an Era, a salon style exhibition curated by Richard Bluecloud Castaneda and Corey Best, featuring over 20 local artists each with a personal history with the formerly known artist community at CELLspace. The one-night exhibition takes place Friday, April 24th from 7-11pm.
The SpaceCraft Collective was founded in August of 2009. For over three years, the collective comprised of resident artists and visiting artists from Project 2048, an on-site artist residency, organized one night exhibitions including live music, performance art, installations and visual art. SpaceCraft resurrected the gallery and gained the attention of the SF Chronicle and Alan Bamberger of Art Business.
This exhibition is not only about celebrating the art of the SpaceCraft Collective, but a gathering for all those who were a part of SpaceCraft to come together and connect minds about the future for them all, not just the past. Come June 2015, resident artists and the whole CELLspace and InnerMission community will lose its studios, metal shops, rehearsal spaces, and performance space to another development. While this may be a last hurrah, it is an evening to treasure all that has been and plant new seeds to cultivate momentum and outline a new direction for the Collective and arts in general.
