My name is Chris Meenen, but I go by Graff Hunter. I spend all my free
time and energy looking for the many interesting and unusual
characters that pop up around town before they get buffed out. I do it
for the love of the game and to help showcase the many talented
artists here in the East Bay. I grew up in and attended college in New
York, and shortly after my graduation, I moved to Oakland in 2010. It
wasn’t until the summer of 2012 that I started documenting the local
street scene, but in less than a year I have snapped over a thousand
images. Oakland and the East Bay have given me more passion for art
than anything else in my life. That’s why I support my local artist
(and myself) by pinching pennies. The lack of money won’t stop us from
doing what we love, but it definitely makes it easier.
